Our Story
From a backyard hobby to a blooming business, Columbia River Dahlias has grown year by year with intention, family, and a love for beauty.
What began as a few dahlia plants and a shared curiosity has blossomed into a thriving flower farm known for specialty tubers, fresh blooms, and perennial roots. Here’s how it all began, and where it’s going.
It all began as a simple backyard project with my mom. We planted our first dahlias just to see what would happen. Drawn to their beauty and curious to try something new. That first summer bloomed into a shared love for growing, and we quickly found ourselves hooked!
In 2019, we officially launched Columbia River Dahlias. By 2020, I left my corporate job in event planning and went all-in on flowers. That year, we launched our first online tuber sale and began sharing our favorite varieties with gardeners across the country. What started as a backyard experiment was quickly becoming something much bigger.
We built a permanent roadside flower stand in Kennewick, WA. Giving our bouquets a home base and our customers a place to return to week after week. Our flower selection expanded, our customer base grew, and we deepened our commitment to offering high-quality, specialty dahlias.
As our tuber sales and cut flower demand kept climbing, we expanded our growing space and added a new perennial favorite: peonies. We also began dreaming bigger, toward a long-term vision of becoming a perennial nursery and broadening our offerings.
This year marks a new chapter. We’re evolving from Columbia River Dahlias into Columbia River Perennials—a brand that reflects our expanded offerings and our deeper mission. From premium bare root peonies and dahlias to roadside bouquets and perennial education, our heart remains the same: to grow beauty worth sharing and joy worth planting.
